Leupold is the quality standard for me in rifle scopes. The gold ring guarantee is excellent, however every once in a while I like to try something different. For the elk hunt I wanted something that I could reach out and touch a bull at distance. For this reason I got this Vortex. I previously put a Crossfire on an AR build based on the reviews it received and clarity of the glass. Vortex warranty covers replacement or repair no matter what happens to the scope. If your house burns down with the scope inside, Vortex replaces it. In this scope I particularly like the 3-12 magnification. 3x9 fits just about any hunter's needs. I've made very respectable shots out beyond 200 to 250 yards. Many will argue 3-9 fits any ethical distance shot. I agree, but with practice that distance can be stretched and higher magnification helps the shooter "aim small." The Vortex gives you the best of both worlds by starting at 3x and reaching out to 12x.
